On the 15-17th of September Green Sports was more than happy to host the September Trials of 2017.

The U18 Greenie XI team discussing tactics before their test match

Over 40 of the most talented players in the country across three age groups competed in a showcase event in front of scouts and coaches representing European countries in a pioneering event for Kenya. (A list of all the participating players is provided below.)

The event pooled the best players selected from our recent Gold Cup Tournament in August. These players were then given the opportunity to impress in front of international scouts with the goal of kicking off a career in professional football.

Green Sports is glad to say that the event was outstanding. All teams performed extremely well despite the haste in which they came together. The U15’s and U23 teams especially performed well, in a weekend that was highlighted by Green Sports’ U23 team beating professional outfit Sofapaka (U21) 3-2 on the opening day.

Going forward, Green Sports will continue to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity in this country, furthering our aim to change the state of football not only in Kenya, but Africa as a whole.

Green Sports personally congratulate and thank every player who attended the trial and please know that your GS will be in contact with you soon concerning feedback from the trial. We shall also be unveiling the players selected by the European scouts soon.

For those of you who crave the opportunity to showcase their talents, earn professional opportunities and be a part of the next Green Sports Trials, be sure to attend Platinum Cup 2017 where some of Kenya’s most talented players will be on show once again.

Lastly we thank all stakeholders who made the event possible.
